Starting the nursery....

This weekend we will purchase paint, and hopefully on Dave's next few days off coming up we can get started... I have declared we are doing stripes in the room on the walls. I want to do something different. In the other girls rooms we put up chair rail, and did different colors above and below the chair rail. We owe it to this baby to do something special, or at least try. If our stripes comes out all crooked and messy we will just have to ditch the effort I guess. I am not a border person at all so I don't want to try that out. Dave is nervous about this whole stripe deal so if you see him pump him up about it...

That is SO cool...ya know what...my friend Kerr did her daughter's nursery in stripes and she made it super easy by NOT measuring the distance between the stripes. She did them in different widths so that it was all random and looked really cute. Just an idea... She used a chalk / line tool to mark them vertically and said it was really easy to do. You've gotta post pics of it when y'all are done!

Stripes sound cool. A loooooong time ago on Trading Spaces, Doug did a room that had wainscoting below the chair rail and a chocolate brown/oatmeal grid above the chair rail. Obviously the colors could be switched to something more appropriate, but I just loved the way it turned out. For the grid they did a base coat all over the wall in the oatmeal color and then marked out the grid with painter's tape of whatever width they wanted the oatmeal lines to be. Then they painted over it all with the chocolate paint. Once it was dry, they peeled up the painters tape and you saw the oatmeal gridlines. It turned out really, really well.
