Halloween Parade!

Today Laura had preschool, and they had a Halloween Parade in their costumes! It was really cute! Dave and I took Rachel and Emily to watch, and my parents came as well. You should have seen all the parents and grandparents there! Of course I pointed out to Dave how many nice Canon Rebel cameras I saw other parents have, hint hint. I want one of those suckers so bad. Guess I will have to start saving up. That's never fun though! So anyways, Laura is a butterfly this year. I got a cute costume from Gymboree (where else?). They had to take the Costume with them to school in a bag, and they would change them into it for the parade. They put her costume on her backwards lol. I mean hello?? The wings go on the back. Didn't think it would be that hard for someone to figure out with the wings and of course the tag in the costume, but I guess it is hard getting all the kids ready in time. She held her teachers hand as they marched around the playground.

Tonight the kids will trick or treat some on our street, and I will be sure to take lots of pics! Happy Halloween everyone!!!!

Fun times at the Gyno office....

Ugg... I am still sick. I may just give in and go to the doctor if it doesn't get better, but there is only so much they can do for you with a cold, which I guess is what I have. My primary care doc is the only other doc I have not seen this week. I had a dentist appointment Tuesday for regular cleaning and check, and yesterday I had the lovely 6 week post partum check at the baby docs office.

I seem to have the best of luck at those visits. With Laura they had a student sit in on my visit, and with Rachel the doc was making corny jokes the whole time, and this time they had another freaking student sit in on my visit. They did ask me if it was ok. I said yes as I don't want to be a pain in the butt, as the practic has taken good care of me over the years. I told the nurse it would be ok, figuring all modesty is pretty much gone after you have kids anyways. So the doc comes in with the student, and guess what- I freaking know the student! I played field hockey against this chick in highschool, and we lived kinda near each other. Great, just great I think to myself. Why don't we just video tape the freaking visit for the news so everyone can see my hoo-haa.

You have to make this...

I have been making something similar to this for a while now (my sister taught me), but this receipe is much better. Oprah had this one on her show last friday. I made this last night for dinner. I only opened one can of beans and just used half of it, I also just spooned on some salsa to my likeing so you don't need a whole freaking jar. I also skipped the hot peppers and olives. n For the chicken I cooked a couple of breasts in the crock pot with a little onion and some taco seasoning, then shrdedded it after it cooked. It still rocked.

Chicken Enchiladas
Recipe created by Cristina Ferrare

Ingredients:

16 ounce bottle or can enchilada sauce
6 low-fat or fat-free tortillas
1 jar salsa
2 cans refried beans
1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup shredded sharp Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup low-fat sour cream
1/4 cup kalamata olives , pitted
1 jalapeño , chopped and seeded
Roasted Chicken
Heat oven to 400°.

Pour the can of enchilada sauce into a pie dish. Dip tortillas in the sauce to soften them.

On a cutting board, gently spread refried beans on one side of each tortilla. Add enough diced Roasted Chicken to cover the beans. Sprinkle with cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses. Add olives, chopped jalapeño and salsa (optional).

Roll up the tortillas and place seam-side down in a 9" x 13" baking dish.

Blend the sour cream into the remaining enchilada sauce in the pie dish. Pour over enchiladas and sprinkle remaining cheese.

Cover and bake for 25-30 minutes until hot and bubbly.

How not to spend your money....

So what is the above picture of? Any guesses??? It's my husbands Chantix that I bought him a while back as some of you may remember...Chantix is prescription medication that helps someone stop smoking/chewing. My husband chews. It's a nasty habit.

He got the prescription for this during the summer, at the same appointment to talk about getting a Vasectomy. By the way, he still hasn't gotten it yet, therefore he will not be getting any until it is taken care of, as this chick isn't chancing having four under four.

So if you remember while we were in the drive through at Walgreen's or wherever the heck it was, when they told us the price I made him solemnly swear to make an effort to quit, and I would pay for it. Chantix is not covered by insurance, and its expensive... The man looked me in the eye and said he would make the effort...

I knew he had not stopped, and he said he tried, but no luck. So tonight just to set myself up for a temper tantrum, I decided to see how much of an effort he really made. The Chantix was kept on top of the fridge, and I pulled it down and found out he only took the stuff for two weeks... He was given a 4 week supply...Way to make an effort big guy, and way to piss away money Robyn...It would have been wiser to spend money towards his denture bills since he will need them after he rots his away with that crap, or even worse, when he gets cancer of the mouth and needs treatment. Seriously, Robyn is not amused, and he wont be getting off easy.

Happenings....

I had my mom put a "G" on these place mats that I found at the Dollar Store. I thought they would be cute around the holidays. I have decided I want to learn to make hair bows (the kind for sale at craft shows and what not) I bought some things to make these with, and have looked up some instructions online but I have not done anything yet. Anyone know how to make these things already, cause if so you need to hold a "hair bow camp for me". I am much better at seeing someone do it, rather then re-read directions for 5 hours cause I am slow like that... I also bought the stuff to make the tutu I talked about. Have not done a darn thing though since I have been sick... I think it's just a cold, but it has kicked my butt. Monday morning I was coughing a little, but was trying to ignore it, and I went and walked the Noland Trail (5 mile trail near the house) with a friend. When I got home I was just zonked, and a few hours later I spiked a nice fever. My symptoms are pretty much now a coughing, sore throat, body aches, and chills kinda thing. What sucks worse then being sick? Being sick and trying to take care of a bunch of kids. It sucks let me tell ya. All you want to do is lay down and rest, and the kids have other plans. Most medication out there makes me drowsy as well so that doesn't help. The husband has been off but you see he ended up buying some new TV that will go in the play room and a flipping Play Station 3, so he's been very concerned about these new play toys, rather then sick wife. I am a bit annoyed as the only thing I could think of to get him for Christmas was a PlayStation 3, so now I don't know what the heck to get him. What are other people getting their husbands? Or am I the only crazy person trying to get my shopping done already?

Weekend happenings..

It's been a low key weekend. My sister did have a purse party yesterday which was super fun. It was a knock off handbag party. Pretty much home dude from up North came down with every type of purse imaginable... Think China Town....Seriously, every room in the downstairs of her house was loaded and loaded with bags. I know what your thinking, but the bags were very good knock offs. I even had a little talk with myself before going saying I would only buy one if any. Well, as soon as I stepped inside her house I forgot about that little talk and ended up with 5 total...HOWEVER, two are for the kids...They had these cute little Kate Spade purses that I knew Laura and Rachel would love. I am probably going to give them to them on their birthday. People were telling me I should get Emily one, but Emily is 5 weeks old... I will get her purses in time...

I got myself a Dooney giraffe print purse, a Burberry purse, and a Marc Jacobs Stam purse. I love 'em! I would have bought 100 more though.. there was tons of Coach, Jimmy Choo, Dooney, Kate Spade, Brighton, etc etc etc...Seriously, I have never seen so many freaking purses, duffles, and wallets...

My sisters friend is going to have a party in the spring, so if any of you want to check it out you can tag along with me!!!

I also want this... it's at Costco for ummm 999.99 or something crazy like that. But apparently it's a super good deal. I know Santa wont be bringing me this, but umm yeah I am accepting donations... I have paypal if you want to send me some camera loot... =)

Photobucket

Santa better bring this...

So anyone watch today's Oprah??? Well if you didn't she did a show on this: http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Amazons-Wireless-Reading-Device/dp/B000FI73MA

and I must, must, must have this... I seriously called my mom and told her that she must see to it that I get it whether it be from the parents for Christmas or from Dave. This is life changing for me.... I love to read (grant it not as much time for it these days) but I still find time for it, and I am all excited about this cutting down on book clutter, they all get stored on this, and they are pretty cost effective... I am telling you this is the ipod of books....I am utterly in love...

Photobucket

Election....

Dude, if I get one more freaking email or bulletin on my myspace about who to vote for, and crap making fun of each nominee I am going to scream. Stop it people, quit forcing your opinions on everyone else- its getting old. Personally I myself am NOT voting for Obama, (how un-social worky of me huh?) and I don't care if you are, but seriously... he's not the freaking anti-christ, and he's not Muslim. Also, McCain isn't some racist, nor does it matter what his age is, as anyone could die at any time regardless how old they are. Focus on issues that matter to you and your family, and if someone doesn't agree with yours don't harp on them or try to preach to them. If you try with me I will put my fingers in my ears and sing bad songs really loud. I have said my peace, so if you send me any political crap it wont be read, and I hope everyone gets out and votes for whoever you want to win.

What shopping with three under three looks like...

First of all most shopping with your kids has to be done at either Same, or Costco cause they have those handy dandy baskets that seat two up front. Also you really need to save money since your basically broke as a joke now with trying to save for college. Then of course the youngest gets stuck in the basket, leaving zero to none space to put any items you want to buy... this means you must either drag another cart behind you, or drag your husband along to push another cart with items that you need such as a ginormous box of diapers, formula, as well as plenty of diet coke to keep mommy happy =)

Scrapping...

Today for about 10 min I scrapbooked. This morning the oldest two wanted to play in the playroom, and Emily was napping (by the way she slept the entire night and didn't wake up until 7:40am woohoo) so I escaped in the scrapbook room. I finished one page, and last week I finished up a two page layout. Don't get excited, these pages are not that interesting. I didn't use any stickers or any other cool embellishment, or even journaled. I did put up a title for each page that I cut out with the Cricut. I just don't have the time to think up a cool page and spend forever working on it, or figuring out where my stuff is. It's so hard to keep scrapbook stuff organized, especially if you have a crap load of it... So my pages are not going to be too exciting, unless sometime in the next century I get to go away on a crop which isn't happening. There are several crops coming up in Williamsburg, one is in November, and two are after the first of the year, but I didn't sign up for any as I don't really want to ditch the kids just yet for a weekend. I wouldn't mind ditching them for a evening of scrapbooking though lol.

The last few years I have made small books for my parents and Dave's parents. I am amusing myself with the idea of doing another one this year, but I just don't know yet. If I do them they will be simple- and not as nice as the ones I have done for them in the past. I am pretty proud of those books I have done for them and put a lot of effort in them, so its going to be a ego blow to me to give them books that are not as elaborate. I am sure they wont mind though. One thing is for sure, if I am going to do them I need to get cracking on it. I don't have any small albums so I guess it have to hit up my Creative Memories lady or I might try to find something cheaper at Michael's.

I have a feeling more and more that I will be getting into the digital scrapbooking as my main mode. I have already done some pages with it using www.howfasttheygrow.com I am going to do Emily's book mainly using them. Their quality is great, its easy and fast to use, and they are always mailing specials for free shipping or 15-20% off all the time. Basically it costs the same or even cheaper sometimes as scrapbooking the hands on way. Don't get me wrong, I love the hands on way as I like being able to create, and have a little arts and craft personal moment, but I also want my books done and not be years and years behind.

Top 10 bands/artists that remind you of highschool..

Homeslice inspired me so here is my list....

1. Spice Girls- I know I know, but yeah I rocked out this song in my car, and begged a boyfriend to take me to see their movie, and he refused, can't say I blame him looking back at it now!

2. Sublime- they make me think of my junior year, and short car trips to Bush Gardens with friends, as well as crazy bipolar boyfriend, who today per his myspace page is still crazy and on drugs, and hasn't made anything of himself.

3.Oasis- I used to listen to them while jogging, and these were great songs to listen to while trying to mend a broken heart (hey I had a lot of boyfriends over the highschool years)

4. The Fugees- This band makes me remember my two highschool years at PC (Peninsula Catholic)

5. TLC - specifically the album Crazy, Sexy, Cool - makes me remember the summer of
'95 which was the last year I played baseball with boys and said goodbye to being a tomboy.

6. The Notorius BIG- I know your all laughing now, but I had to throw some gangsta rap in there. With this artist I think of both 10th grade and 12th grade as I rocked out , or rather rapped out (hahah) to his Ready to Die album (10th grade). I remember listening to this album riding to school with a friend (Amy Coenen). His life after death album makes me think of when I learned he died. I always went to 711 before going to school to get a coke slurpee, and it was flashing on the news, and I was so sad about it for about 5 seconds, and somehow I moved on. I also remember playing his song hypnotize super loud on my way to softball practic. I played everything super loud so other people could hear what I was lisening to, and so they would know how cool I was. Yeah I was THAT person....

7. Dave Mathews Band- I still like them...but I can't help but just think about potheads and hemp jewelry...In on my senior casual pics I sported a hemp necklace, and bracelet 'cause I was a poser like that.

8. Puff Daddy- he's had many name changes since then, but yeah I listend to him, and it was another one I played super loud with my windows down especially in the summer so people could hear him too.

9. Shania Twain- This is when she was on the country charts and pop charts. She makes me think of the summer before I went off to college, as the girls on my ASA softbally team would sing her songs reall really really loud, almost as annoying as me playing my music loud in the car...

10. Lil Kim- what can I say, it was all about the gangsta rap. I think of fun times with friends, going to baseball games, softball games, and softball friends, being a mall rat, and just having fun being a 17 year old, and thinking I was all that.

The Blue's

This morning we all went to the Poquoson Seafood Festival, and I had zero fun as it was cold, drizzly, a little windy, and I saw a million things I wanted but alas Friday my lovely medical bills came from having Emily and those bills are never friendly, so alas no fun money. I was going to try to get some Christmas gifts but everything I saw that I liked didn't fit the category for other people, it was stuff I wanted, so craft show in which you want a mess load of stuff for your self, but have no cash = no fun, especially with cruddy weather. Oh well, I rather have Emily!

Busy times

Emily is 4 weeks old today!! I wish time would slow down.... she is now 9lbs! She is in the 50% for height, weight, and head. She's doing just dandy per her doc. After the doc appointment I had to go to Target to attempt some small Christmas Shopping while I had a chance. My parents had the oldest two so I figured it was a good chance to get a few things while they were not with me. I picked up some shower/bath paint figuring they would like to play with that and it could be a good stocking stuffer, plus some pink tights, another stocking stuffer, and then Elmo Live and I met...

elmo
Apparently this is supposed to be one of the hot holiday items that will be hard to find. Anyways, they had some on the shelf and I amused myself with seeing what it does. It's pretty cute, but 59.99 cute? Not so sure... I actually bought one though... the kids seem to like Elmo, there not into TV that much but they do like Elmo and enjoy some of their other Elmo stuff... I figured even though I wasn't so sure I wanted to buy it I better just get it now while I had the chance because if I changed my mind down a few months from now I am sure I wouldn't have a chance to find it in time... So now I am debating giving it to one of the kids for Christmas, holding it back for a birthday in Feb, and who to give it to... obviously we don't need two of those suckers, since they can share and since it is kinda high for a freaking doll, but who shall it be deemed for? I am thinking Rachel since Laura get lots of new things being the oldest, and Emily obviously could care less about Elmo at this point...

I have to freaking go to work tomorrow for some mandatory training... ick...I am sure I could get out of it being I am on maternity leave and all, but apparently its really important training for everyone, and I will need to be on top of it when I go back to work in December, so I have decided to suck it up and go, and just extend my leave by another day. I will be happy to see some of my coworkers, and hey, they are giving us free good food. It's going to be weird to be without the kids all day.

Speaking of which, I am worn out! Dave is back to work, and works nights, so I get all night duty now... not that Emily is tough- she's actually been only waking up once at night usually 5:30am, so that's not bad at all. I start out my days perky trying to be a super mom, trying to make everyone happy, and trying to keep the house clean, making meals for everyone, so by 5pm I have morphed into spastic mom, who is trying not to yell at the kids, and usually failing. By 8pm I am ready to collapse... Dave knows I am beat, so tomorrow night when I get home from my work training we are going to destress at Plaza's and I can taste that yummy jumbo margarita already...

Another project in the works...

I want to paint the playroom, and finish fixing it up. Huge project I know and we don't really have a lot of free time on our hands, but I want it done, and it will be done... at some point....

Dave and I were discussing colors and what we want done, and Dave gets all excited because he thinks he has discovered a "unique" new color combination....what is this new exciting combo Dave has dreamed up? Why its Pink and Brown. Little does he know this combo is not his discovery and its pretty big right now, especially with kid stuff. I think the combo would be cool, and work in the room. So we are debating about doing all the walls one color and then painting big polka dots of the other color all over. That could be a huge pain in the behind given the room is a pretty good size....We have thought about doing pink on some walls and brown on others. I wont be forcing the stripes again since that about gave Dave a stomach ulcer... I do know I am going to get something cutesie custom made in huge vinyl letters to stick on the wall... Thinking about getting The Giles Girls, or something along that line. We shall see though, we aren't starting any time soon, so I have plenty of time to plot.

Recent happenings....

Oh my goodness... guess what I have been watching on HBO today??? E.T! My sisters took me when I was itty bitty to see this movie in the theatre when it came out.... I loved it, I got a bit freaked when he got sick, but I became obsessed with ET from that day. I had two ET themed Birthday partys, and just about every ET toy you can imagine...I was just totally in love with it... Laura and Rachel watched it with me a little bit before they needed their naps, and they were in a trance watching as well. I have to buy this movie on DVD for them.

Dave went back to work last night =( I have been very lucky to have a husband able to take off a good amount of time with each baby we have had... Emily was three week old this past Wednesday, so he's been home with me all this time. It was so nice to have his help, especially this time around with two older toddlers, and just nice to be able to spend a lot of time together as a family. He's such a good daddy. He is still hoping to get day shift back soon. He had hoped to have it by the time he went back but it hasn't gone through yet, so he's disappointed about that.

I am on a mission to make a Tulle Skirt for the kids. I know I just bought one the other day, but I have seen the cutest ones on people's blogs that they have made themselves for their kids to play dress up in, and apparently you can make them with out sewing. It sounds like you can just take some elastic and then just tie the tulle on, and add in ribbons for some extra foo foo. So, that is a project I want to do at some point when ever I can get to Michael's or Joanne's to buy what I need. If it works out ok, and I don't make a huge mess of it I will post pics of the kids wearing them.

1. Clothes Shop:

I love Anne Taylor's LOFT, they have cute stuff and good sales, and I heart their clearance racks. I also like Old Navy as their stuff is cheap, and often have cute things. 2. Furniture Shop:

I have been happy with the items we have purchased from Haverty's. I also love Pottery Barn's stuff, but the only furniture I have from them is my kids toy storage unit if that counts... I would kill for the green desk they have out now in the catalog... I can dream!

3. Sweet:

I love sweets...some favs are Carrot Tree Carrot cakes, and as far as that goes any cream cheese icing...I also love Reece Cups... there my crack...

4. City:

I really liked Charleston, SC alot...It was soo pretty...

5. Drink:

I like Wii fit's step class! I also like walking, I hate running even when I was skinny and fast I used to cuss inside my head when I had to do it for practices for the sports I was in.

10. Pastries:

Do doughnuts count?

11. Coffee:

I like iced coffee's only with lots of fatty stuff like whip cream and caramel, hence why I don't get them much as one has enough calories in it to fatten up a small colony

Liking Preschool?

I had mentioned the preschool drop off was getting better, and today we had major progress as she woke up this morning excited to go to school, and when I took her into the building there wasn't any panic from her, or attempts to flee the building. She wanted to run to her classroom, and she was excited! I hope this trend will continue!!!

P.S. I used the Chi last night, and I think I am in love....

Gymboree adventures!

I got the Chi at the lower price today, and I am all excited to use it when the husband gets back from the gym. I also of course went to the mall and used my Gymbucks to get Laura and Rachel their Christmas dresses. I bought Emily's many months ago when I was in PA at a Pottery Barn kids outlet. It's red and white silk dress with some smocking, sooo cute.... I thought the red dress they have at Gymborre would go well with what Emily is wearing, so Laura and Rachel are going to be all matchy matchy. I grabed the Tulle skirt which was on clearence, and I am probably going to give it to Laura for her bday for dress up play. I grabbed the white velor outfit for Emily to where around the holidays. So Christmas outfits are done, just gotta dress them up for pictures at some point!

The Chi!

So last night Dave and I had a date, which included a trip to Target as I needed some formula and exchanged a can I had already bought for the kind Emily is on now. I also some how found my way to the hair product aisle to check out the flat irons...I saw the Chi flat iron, it wasn't priced and it was locked up so I had to find someone to get it for me. So that right there told me it was going to cost a fortune. I quickly found a price scanner, and holly cow that sucker is $129! Dave told me to just get it, so I did, but then I came home and Jamie left me a comment letting me know you can get them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and use their 20% off coupons that they always have out! You know my tail is going back to Target today to return that sucker and marching next door to buy the exact same thing and save some money. In the mean time my hair looks like crap cause I don't have my flat iron yet, and I simply refuse to shower and wash my hair until I have that thing! Hey at least I have my deodorant on!

Fall Decorations....

I love Halloween and fall, and wanted to share some of my cooky fall stuff.

First the front porch. I have a berry wreath on our front door this year that we actually got as a wedding present, and I never used until this year. I think it looks good with the black door that Dave painted. We have of course our crazy pumpkins from the pumpkin patch we went to, and a few other decorations out.

In our front yard one of my favorite Halloween decorations is this Witch Sillouette. September '05 I saw this witch on the cover of Martha Stewart's Magazine, and they had directions on how to make it on her website. My mom, dad, and I put the pattern together and cut it out of plywood, and then painted it black. The larger cat you see is also from her magazine, and Dave cut that out from left over plywood from the witch. She holds a lantern, and I put a candle in it on Halloween.

Inside in my dining room I have this pumpkin rod iron candle holder thingy sitting in a Souther Living at Home container. The pumpkin candle holder I bought in Dresden, Ohio when I went with my sister to the Longaberger headquarters in 2004.

On top of my China cabinet this year I copied some other bloggers who were using their candle sticks to hold little pumpkins. One pair of Candle sticks are from Souther Living at home, and the other I got many years ago at TJMAXX. The pumpkins came from Michael's. I got the crows on the pumpkins at this years Fall Festival last weekend at Newport News Park.

In our Den I have a small table that tends to be my seasonal table for decorations, mainly because I am not creative enough to find other areas in the house to put things. These decorations are more or less a little crazy looking, but I tend to like the more primative style of Halloween decorations, as well as Christmas decorations. Most of these decorations have come from the Newport News Fall festival over the many years I have attended. I also used some other Souther Living at Home candle sticks to put a few things on, as well as the pedestal.
