Crafting....

The Giles Girl sign I made several weeks ago, and it has been hung in the girls playroom.... The play banner I made today (Easter) and I hung it on their playroom door. I can not take credit for coming up with these crafts... I "craft lifted" them... (errr ummm copied) The banner is kinda like what Jamie makes (her blog is on my side bar- called Forrest Frolic) (her banners are also better cause she hand sews the crepe rosette thingys, and I hot glue gun mine) , and the sign I found on a random blog that I can't remember.... The sign is actually scrapbook paper wrapped around a canvas and glued, and the cool shape was made by making a square and adding circles to the ends by drawing around a coffee cup.

My Craftroom

My husband told me today he wants to make my craftroom nicer for me. Seriously, whatever he's smoking must be good. I have been wanting to snazz it up, but honestly, we have been busy with getting nursery's ready after having three kids back to back to back. Not that life has been getting that much easier for us, but I have been able to find some time for crafting again, and it would be nice to have a pretty area to do it in....

This is what you see upon stepping in the door: It actually looks ok, and organized. It's an illusion though. It's a mess.

The room was used as our "office" and we had our computer on a desk over in the corner. The computer is as old as dirt, and was never used, so this weekend I at least got rid of that.... The walls still hold our dipolomas and some awards... "who's who of college students 2002 what what!"

This table is what I mianly scrapbook on, craft, and cut my fabric on, and I sorta just pile up some fabric and supplies to the left....

On the other side I have my sewing machine that I set on top of an old table I used in my apartment when I went to grad school in Richmond.... Not exactly an ideal workspace, but I deal.... The falling apart book shelf to the right? God only knows how old that thing is.... I think my sister had it in her room when she was little, then I used it when growing up to hold my massive baby sitters club collection of books, then my sister took it back to have in her daughters room, then I for some reason wanted it back, and now it sits here in all of its glory.... I want another book shelf to replace this one.

So what does my husband have planned? He's going to make me a big table top desk. Specifically I want it to be apple green. I saw one in Pottery Barn in 2008, that I had dreams about, and now it's going to be his job to copy it. I also want a bookself, and then after that I am clueless. I also want the room painted....

Here comes Peter Cotton Tail...

I made these this morning for the girls to wear for an egg hunt tomorrow... I wish I could take credit for making the yo-yo that was used for the bunny tail, but I actually bought a back of these pre-made from A.C Moore.

I can almost taste the weekend....

*Claritin is not my friend. Non-drowsy medication my ass!

*My youngest threw up all over me yesterday, then stepped back, pointed at me and cried. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

*I finally got the kids Easter dresses today, and they will be dressed in a la Target this year. Shhh!!!!!I looked everywhere and Target had the cutest and it was price friendly.

*Last night I got so stressed with dealing with sick kids, and chaos while Dave was working overtime last night, and I took out some anger on him. I didn’t send him mean texts or cuss him or the phone, but I tried to find some paper in the house to write a mega to do list for him and a list of my expectations. Thank goodness I never found any paper to actually do it, cause I don’t think he would have taken that well.

Recycling .... sewing style....

I have mastered the elastic waist skirt.... I wanted to make pj pants, or just any freaking pant involving an elastic waist. I found this tutorial on how to make kid pants from an adult shirt: click here and I figured what the heck. I don't have many T-shirts that I am willing to shred, but I did have an old work shirt that I have not worn in a rather long time that I was about ready to donate to Goodwill. It wasn't really hard at all. It was quick project, and I am happy with the results. Though I do think it's cool to make them from a shirt, I have to admit, I am itching now to go spend some money on some cute flannel and make a ton of these for the kids for pj pants....

Speaking of kids- it's a good thing this was a quick project... My oldest came down with a cold when we were all out of town, and she got worse and needed to go to urgent care yesterday as she was having some issues catching her breath. I stayed home with her today and tried to make sure she got some rest. I attempted to keep the other kids away so she could rest up some, and had them go next door to my parents house. Wasn't even worth it, as when the others came back over in the afternoon they started throwing up, and having fevers themselves. Oh the joys of multiple kids... they just love sharing germs...

Need it want it....

Getting organized...

I have a craft room, though it looks NOTHING like the pictures above. My room started out as our "office/computer room"... meaning a place for our computer and to hang our dipolmas and special college awards, and what nots...Then I set up a folding table and called it my scrapbook room. The computer is still in the room but its ancient now, and has been replaced my laptop, so really I need to get rid of the computer in there.... I mainly digital scrap now, but I still have a crap load of scrapbook supplies that I refuse to part with. My room also now has the sewing machine that I got for Christmas 2008, and I am starting to pile up on some material. So my scrapbook room is now becoming a sorta craft room I guess, and I don't know how to organize it...I did declutter the room somewhat, but I am just at a loss. I would love for the room to look cutesy, and inviting as it's so plain and disorganized now. I am greatful I have a room to devote to my hobbies, but I need to find a way to get it set up to use the room to it's potential. Also, I need to win the lottery so I can have the money to make it look like a magazine photo.... oh to dream... Any suggestions from crafters out there to organize your supplies?
